HAHA I’m sort of approaching this entire thing backwards, almost - I made the Avengers/Iron Man 2 arc reactor (the MK III to be exact doop doop) first, and it was pretty shoddy, but now we’re making the MK II and I’m approaching the laser cutters and using some much better materials for a MK III redux and I’M REALLY EXCITED.
AND MAN THERE’S SOME SUPER LEGIT PROP-MAKING GOING ON, my friend got really excited about making arc reactors and went and mocked up all this crazy stuff, and he’s slowly but surely been going into the mechie labs and 3D printing shit and using the lasercutter and DAMN - look at this stuff! what a champ, what a bro. It’s so legit I could cry.

So ends the first phase of Tarte’s journey to make the Iron Man gauntlet! Given my limited resources and tight schedule, I’m thinking it didn’t turn out too badly - I’m happy with it for a test run, but by no means as a finished product. Definitely gonna remake this one, but I’ll have fun wearing it.

however i have run into a snag, namely that my hand is fucking shoujo or some shit and the pepakura is simultaneously too wide and not long enough. Hopefully I can jury-rig something to make up for that without losing too much of the oomph.
Getting spray paint this weekend with the best INDIA (because apparently you’re not allowed to buy it in NYC if you’re under 21 (I MEANT 21)? THE MORE YOU KNOW) and gonna try to finish the parts that aren’t wiring this weekend.
If I’m mod-podging foam to seal it for when I spray-paint it later (I’ll put acrylic sealer over it, then spray it, then acrylic seal it again), could anyone tell me around how many layers I need?
